Re-making of the Star-Spangled Banner  National Traveling Education Spring 2011  Kick-off

The  Washington, D.C. War of 1812 Bicentennial Commission--Re-making the Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail Kickoff and Annual Awards Program and Tea  "Working With the Experts at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History" BHS and the experts will host students, teachers and others from around the world  in celebration of the War of 1812 Upcoming Bicentennial  National Historic Trail  Kick-off  of the " Remaking of the Star-Spangled Banner" Spring 2011 in Washington, D.C.  The 2011 National Historic Trail kickoff will have bands, songs, and the singing of the National Anthem, recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance, Federal, State and Local Proclamations.  Followed with a program and roundtable discussion about our love for our Flag, and the Star-Spangled Banner  National Historic Trail Traveling  Education Program.

Congress amended the National Trails System Act on May 8, 2008 designating the Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail.   The Trail  offers the Washington, D.C. War of 1812 Bicentennial Commission and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History a chance to work together  with other  stakeholders and to connect the public with the symbol of pride and patriotism of the Star-Spangled Banner, our National Anthem and the War of 1812 Trail.

The Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail was envisioned to support the commemoration, interpretation, promotion of the Star-Spangled Banner during the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 and to provide a legacy for these activities--- through a chain of events, people, resources preservation, interpretation, recreation, and places that lead to the making of the Star-Spangled Banner and birth of our National Anthem.
